ABATEMENT TIPS
Always retain the municipal tax bill envelope The post office date stamp is important.
You have only 30 days from receiving the undated tax bill to file for an abatment.
Real Estate Taxes must be paid in full before filing for an abatment.
Obtain a copy of both sides of the assessor's field record card of your property.
From the municipal engineer's office, or planning department obtain a copy of the assessor's map showing your property.
Never argue, or lose your temper, with any employee of an assessor's office.
Be sure you have all municipal permits for any property impovement.
